LYFE Fuel: Nutrient-Dense Plant Power

Between the election, moving into a new house, and the onset of the holidays, my (mostly) healthy lifestyle has totally fallen to the wayside.

Not one for resolutions, I’ve been eager to get back into my groove before the New Year, so I took the advice of a friend who’d recently done a 21-day program through LYFE Fuel that helped her get out of a funk.

  • I find most healthy shakes taste strange, gross, or both. But these shakes are quite tasty (I’m typically a chocolate lady but the vanilla is my jam). I’ve definitely noticed a shift in my energy levels in the mornings – it’s easier to get up and go when I start the day with an Essentials shake, which has replaced my morning coffee. Although the shakes only have 110 calories, it packs 18 grams of protein, so it holds me over until lunch without a struggle. It also helps with sugar cravings during the Eliminate phase with its satisfying sweetness.  I’m guessing there is some magic happening here at the cellular level because I feel more nourished, satisfied, and energized when I use the Essentials.  Unlike regular protein shakes that often left me feeling full but bloated, I felt that my body was actually absorbing the nutrients in the Essentials in a meaningful and healthier way.

Algae Omega DHA

  • Props to LYFE Fuel for opting for algae oil as their omega-3 supplement, which is much more environmentally sustainable than fish oil. That also means none of that fishy aftertaste first thing in the morning. Between clean eating and the supplements, I’ve experienced sustained mental sharpness, especially towards the end of the day when I tend to lose momentum.  The high concentration of DHA that it provides helps to reduce inflammation, balance your omega ratio, and reduce inflammation.

Ultra-Strength Probiotic

  • I know a lot of people have been singing the praises of probiotics recently, but let me just say this: they’re important, especially in partnership with prebiotics.
